On this occasion Dorothy Day, an American journalist, social activist and Catholic converts, wrote Suicide or Sacrifice?, where she discussed suicide doctrinally, psychologically, and in literature and tried to understand LaPorte’s intentions and the need for protest in the midst of war and building for war.
